Prête-Moi Paris’ Blogiversary Bash

Having a ball (Can you name all the Paris superstars in this shot?)

Having a ball (can you name all the Paris superstars in this shot?)

As a writer, I know the importance of detail. The same must hold true for events.

Last night, Melissa Ladd of Prête-Moi Paris celebrated her four-year blogiversary at her gorgeous home in the seventeenth arrondissement (seriously! apartment envy!).

Fitted with streaming pink pendants and rose-colored poofs, the festive rooms set the stage for a super fun soiree.

Since 2009, Melissa has shared her love of fashion, food, and frills in the City of Light. She’s also a big fan of DIY. Last night she brought all those loves together.

Yummy hors d’oeuvres set on tables sprinkled with glittery sparkles. Each delicious cupcake courtesy of Sugar Daze had cute little flags bearing our names. In one corner a station to make our own tea bag holder. In another, the place to mix our own cocktails.

Above and beyond the thoughtful touches, though, Melissa made the party into an event. We were treated to a fashion show featuring drop-dead gorgeous dresses from Vintage Galerie. The two models also wore accessories from Cleopatra’s Bling.

Now y’all know I am probably the least hip or fashionable of all the Paris bloggers. I am the strange one (quirky?), the girl of few heels and many faux pas. I don a backpack, people, not a purse.

Still, I became a complete convert last night. Each dress and piece of jewelry was beautiful, a show-stopper. But, really, this must be why I loved what I saw so much.

Hello!

Hello!

Good night!

Good night!

Everything was unique! Olivia of Cleopatra’s Bling travels to Istanbul and India for her jewelry line; each piece is a one-off. So buy one of those chunky rings or a bronze bracelet beauty, and you know there’s no other like it in the world.

As for the clothes, Elisabeth and Camille search for vintage fashion from the 1920s to 80s. Usually a no brand, low-consuming (non)shopper, I wanted to buy everything. Luckily (?), I’m still the same starving artist so that didn’t happen.

Check out the back in the mirror, too.

Check out the back in the mirror, too.

I did up my style quotient a bit last night, though, thanks to Melissa and her featured brands’ generosity. (Actually, every time I leave Melissa’s, I walk away a little richer.)

*Totally* unfair to have to appear in this pic after the models!

I won a funky clutch from Kasia Dietz handbags‘ new collection.

“I have been waiting for years!” I exclaimed when I claimed my prize, one to hear people laugh, but two, because it’s true.

Kasia is one of the people I admire most in Paris. She came to the City of Light for love, leaving behind a successful New York advertising career (and after an amazing around the world trip!) She reinvented herself and is now a thriving designer here.

I appreciate how Melissa transformed her anniversary party into a celebration of inspiring Paris-based entrepreneurs. (The only one I can’t personally comment on is Mon Champagne. It’s great, I’m sure, but as the odd Paris blogger again, I’m also the weird one that doesn’t drink!)

Wishing a very happy blogiversary to Prête-Moi Paris. Some people sure know how to throw a party.

So happy you won my purse, Sion! May it travel far with you, and store many of your bohemian treasures! Great recap of a fabulous night with some of the loveliest people in Paris!

(And thank you for your kind words!)

Looks like everyone had so much fun. But shame on the person who thought that a cigarette was an appopriate accessory.

We did have a fun! And I can see where you’re coming from. Shame is too strong a word for me in this case, though – I can think of a lot of other people more in need of shaming! I’m not a smoker and my health certainly thanks me, but in the retro era they were channeling, cigarettes were accessories. (For better or worse). I wonder what other people think. Open to hearing other people’s views. And hearing if it struck others, too.

Looks like it was a great time! And I love that yellow trapeze dress (even though I could never pull it off).

Missing you all! I would have so been there if I was in town! Congrats to Melissa again – I love that multiple people are writing about how awesome the party was!
Who’s up for a tweet up in Jan or beginning of Feb where I can hear all about it in person?!
    xoxo,

      Hey Priscilla!

Well, get a bunch of bloggers together and we will blog about it 🙂

Tweetups are so fun, too. I’ll be away this winter (at a writing residency – hooray!) so would miss a January/February meet-up, but that’s always a great time to hold one. Always need a lift in the middle of the gray, rainy winter.

      xx

Sion Dayson is paris (im)perfect. Writer, dreamer, I moved to France on – no exaggerating – a romantic whim. As you can imagine, a lot can go wrong (and very right!) with such a (non)plan. These are the (im)perfect stories that result.
