Phew!
I am so relieved we’re not embroiled in some dramatic recount right now; it was one of my fears about the US presidential election.
But nope, the numbers were clear and told a good (in my opinion) story.
That being said, it’s not always healthy to track numbers obsessively. I learned that this past year as I was sending query letters to literary agents. I put on a brave face, but the process did get me down.
But I’m back up!

Why not self-publish with Amazon and Smashbooks. That’s what I did and I’m really happy with it. Amazon is super easy to publish with. Just upload your MS Word manuscript. I paid a formatter to help get the manuscript in shape for Smashbooks ($50) and now it’s in their Premium Catalog. That’s gets it into Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Baker & Taylor, Apple, Sony, etc. I believe to 26 countries and into libraries.
You’ve already got the blog to help you promote. I had to set that up after. If you have questions, let me know. I used to work for a traditional publisher and was not impressed with their treatment of writers, so I went my own way.

Great to hear you’ve had such a positive experience self publishing! Believe me, I’m definitely considering it. I actually have a lot of thoughts on it – that would probably be a whole other post! But yes, it’s definitely an exciting option. I might just shoot you a few questions if I decide to go that path. I think the most important thing is for each writer to decide for herself what feels right for her. Thanks for sharing your experience!
